Should You DIY Your Recruiting Strategy?

In most aspects of business, you can expect to save a little cash by doing the work yourself instead of outsourcing it to someone else. But if a project is large or the subject is complicated, trying to DIY could create more problems and cost more in the long run than if you had used expert help from the beginning.

Recruiting is no different! It may seem counter-intuitive, but outsourcing your talent acquisition efforts can save you resources like money and time, while helping to reduce turnover and increase overall happiness among your employees. We’ve seen it again and again!

How do you know when it’s time to pass the project to an outside expert? The short answer is: when it gets to be “too much” for you or your team and can affect your bottom line! It might be that you lack the bandwidth to put the necessary time and focus into sourcing and screening employees. Or perhaps you have never hired for a certain role before, and don’t know where to start. Maybe you have a specific recruiting project or short-term need that you know is going to be very labor-intensive. These are all perfectly valid reasons to outsource some, or all, of your organization’s recruiting efforts.
